Fall Activities in the Pacific Northwest

  • Date: September 22, 2016

“There’s nothing to do” - said no one ever in Oregon.

In autumn, there’s no shortage of seasonal entertainment to help you soak up the crisp, sunny weather. Spirit Mountain Casino put together a list of our go-to fall activities to get you started:

Apple Picking
Whether you’re a diehard gala fan or can’t resist the crunch of a Honeycrisp, this is the time of year for apple lovers. Make an afternoon of it and visit an orchard for a day packed with apple picking and cider sampling. There are lots of orchards dotting Oregon’s landscape, but this handy list is a great reference for the best apple picking destinations around Portland.

Sauvie Island Corn Maze
Sauvie Island might be less than 15 miles north of Portland, but you’ll feel like you’re in a different world you wander through the MAiZE at the Sauvie Island Pumpkin Patch. Prepare to get lost among five acres of twists, turns, and unexpected pathways. While you wander, climb one of the observatory decks for stunning views of Mount Hood or enjoy the beautiful art (including the ingenious maze design!).

Portland Trail Blazers' Games
The Blazers have always been at home in Portland, and you can tell the moment you walk into the Moda Center: the fans are loyal and loud, and that’s the way we like it. With an NBA championship, 29 playoffs, and six Hall of Famers to their name, the courtside always brings the best in basketball action. Can’t make it to Portland? You can always catch the game at the Mountain View Sports Bar.

Hood River Valley Harvest
Celebrate the beauty and bounty of the Pacific Northwest at the Hood River Valley Harvest. Bring your family Friday, October 14th through Sunday, October 16th for a weekend packed with art, food, wine, and other regional delights. Carve a pumpkin, play autumnal games, sample local brews, and enjoy the festive fall atmosphere. It’s a great way to ring in the season and is always a crowd pleaser for visitors of all ages.

West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta
At the 13th annual West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta, you’ll see Tualatin Lake transform into a water raceway for our symbol of autumn. Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 15th to see people climb into their pumpkin boats and paddle their way across the lake. In addition to the pumpkin paddle, you’ll enjoy food and beverages, games and activities, and even a 5k.

Have your own favorite seasonal activities? Spread the love and share them with the Spirit Mountain community!
