FUN SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

June 30, 2016

Summer vacation is officially in session! While most kids are in the midst of a collective celebration, parents are scrambling for ways to keep every member of the family busy. The Spirit Mountain Casino community put our heads together for our favorite family-friendly activities this summer:

Oaks Amusement Park
Parents (and grandparents!), prepare yourself for a wave of nostalgia: Oaks Amusement Park has been charming guests since 1905, and the historic character is evident in every inch of it. Wander the family fun center to whoop on the roller coaster and whirl around go-carts, or enjoy fun with two feet on the ground with miniature golf and a mini-train tour. Head over this summer to try out their vintage roller rink.

Portland Children’s Museum
Toddlers to ten-year-olds will find the Portland Children’s Museum full of wonder. Explore more than a dozen exhibits, from the Pet Hospital to the expansive Outdoor Adventure, where inquisitive minds will be challenged. With hands-on activities that include the Play It Again Theater and the Artist Studio, “bored” isn’t a word you hear during a visit here.

Elephant Lands at the Oregon Zoo
After decades of research studying elephants in their natural habitat, Elephant Land was created to give the zoo’s resident pachyderms a home that they would experience in the wild. It also allows visitors to get an up-close glimpse into the lives of elephants. Take the sky bridge over the elephants’ new home, play zookeeper with the exhibit’s new data collection system, and enjoy this unique natural space.

Kid-Friendly Hiking Spots
Tie up your boots, grab a water bottle, and head for one of Oregon’s natural wonders. There are virtually countless kid-friendly hikes in the Beaver State. Our favorites are Mt. Tabor Park for beautiful views of Portland, Multnomah Falls for a priceless photo op, and Cape Meares for some seaside exploration.

Spirit Mountain Casino’s PlayWorld
While you play the adult games in the casino, your kids will be well entertained and well looked-after at Playworld. Whether they’re lounging in a bean bag chair in the movie room, exploring the play structure, or grabbing something from the Snack Bar, they’ll have a packed schedule the moment they arrive. Don’t forget the Arcade, either: From air hockey to car racing, it is a hub of gaming excitement.

When the summer calendar includes roller rinks, hikes, elephants, arcades, and more, it’s bound to be an exciting season for every member of the family. Share your summer adventures with Spirit Mountain!
