Our Favorite Oldie But Goodie Neil Sedaka Tunes

June 4, 2015

Oh! Carol” -- This 1958 hit topped the charts in the USA, Italy and a few countries in between. The track, which is a reference to his highschool sweetheart (and fellow acclaimed musician!) Carole King, is as much a lighthearted treat today as it was decades ago. Fun Fact: Carole King performed, “Oh! Neil” as a response, but the song did not do as well as Sedaka’s.

"Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" -- Sedaka’s signature song might have a sad title, but the arrangement is anything but. We’re not the only ones who love this pop favorite: This song held the coveted #1 spot on the Billboard Top 100 in 1962. He also released a second arrangement in 1975, which sounds vastly different from the original.. Here’s to hoping he gives us a taste of both.

Calendar Girl” - This hit single is an homage to the print ads Sedaka saw on TV Guide in his youth. A perennial fan favorite all over the world, it’s also captured the attention of fellow admiring artists. Everyone from The Beach Boys to Shakey Graves has put their own spin on this classic with unique covers.

Stairway to Heaven” -- Sedaka sang it first! A decade before Led Zeppelin debuted their song of the same name, Neil Sedaka launched this upbeat pop favorite.

A New Yorker at heart, Sedaka’s music has transcended continental boundaries for over half a century. Tickets start at just $30 and are on sale now. Join us at 8pm in the Main Event to watch decades of musical genius unfold before your eyes. This is a rare opportunity to see this musical legend in the Pacific Northwest, so reserve your seat at Spirit Mountain today!
