The Ultimate Oregon Road Trip

  • Date: August 13, 2015

First Stop: Crater Lake

Scenic Route 62 will take you to Southern Oregon’s most show-stopping attraction. Flanked by 2,000 foot-high cliffs, Crater Lake’s deep blue water contrasts sharply with its mountainous surroundings. Dip your toes into the deepest lake in the world and meander through the old-growth forests that surround this national landmark.

Second Stop: Oregon Coast

Head west from Crater Lake along scenic Route 101, which will take you along the coast. Sample fresh-caught seafood in Newport and go whale watching in Lincoln City. Enjoy the dramatic rocky seascapes and capture the beauty of Heceta Head Historic Lighthouse. As you leave the coast and head towards your next destination, relax and recharge for the evening at the Lodge at Spirit Mountain.

Third Stop: Mt. Hood

Eleven glaciers top Oregon’s ever snowy peak. Mt. Hood is one of the only places in the world where you can ski throughout the year. Take on six unique ski areas by day and relax in front of the fire at the Historic Timberline Lodge by night.

Final Stop: Columbia River Gorge

Less than thirty miles from the heart of Portland rests Crown Point, where you can find a remarkable vista of the Columbia River. The unique topography of the river makes for a wealth of activities—join parasailers, swimmers, and windsurfers in the water, or enjoy the view from one of the many wineries lining the riverfront. Hike around Multnomah Falls and dozens of other waterfalls that line the Historic Columbia River Highway.

Whether your road trip spans an afternoon or a month, Oregon is one of the few destinations where you’ll never run out of new sights and experiences. Experience it all with Spirit Mountain Casino as your home base!
