Filipino pop stars and certified hit makers Joey Albert and Nonoy Zuniga will head line the Filipino Music Festival at 7p.m., Saturday, August. 26, in the Spirit Mountain Event Center.
The festival lineup also will include popular Filipino performers Fe de los Reyes, Eva Caparas and Jet Montelibano of the Music & Magic Showband.
Joey Albert and Nonoy Zuniga are both best known for their original timeless classic hits. Ms. Albert is a versatile Filipino pop and jazz singer whose string of timeless hits have become ingrained in Fili pino music history. She has enjoyed an award-winning solo career for over 25 year s that began when one of her first hits, “Tell Me” received a Gold Record Award from the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI), establishing her meteoric rise as a major Filipino musical artist. "Tell Me" became such a mega-hit that other kn own musical artists, including David Pomeranz, recorded cover versions of the song. Joey's other hits include "Over and Over," "A Million Miles Aw ay," "I Remember the Boy," "Points of View," and Tagalog favorites "Yakapin Mo Ako," "Iisa Pa Lama ng," "Ikaw Lamang Ang Mamahalin," many of which have been immortalized as theme songs of many blockbuster TV drama series more popularly known as “teleseryes.”
Zuñiga's singing career spans more than three decades, from a folk singer (1971 to 1975) to being one of the l ead singers of the Family Birth Control Band performing in the best nightspots and hotels in Manila (1975-1980) to becoming a multi-awarded singer performing solo concerts in the U.S. and various parts of the world including Asia, Australia, Japan, South Korea, China a nd New Zealand. All his performances from 1983 to the present are well-acclaimed and mo stly sold-out shows mainly due to his much-anticipated classic hit ballads like “Never Ever Say Goodbye,” “Kumusta Ka.” “Doon Lang,” “Bituing Walang Ningning,” his upbeat “Magandang Gabi” and other well- loved English standards that perfect ly fit his deep baritone vocals.
Singer-comediene Fe de los Reyes, s oul singer Eva Caparas and livewire performer Jet Montelibano are original me mbers of the popular show band Music & Magic -- one of the few elite singing groups in the ‘80s in the Philippines. They enjoyed extended stints in Singapore and Malaysi a and also toured the U.S. and Canada and performed in prestigious venues such as the Shrine Auditorium (Los Angeles) and Carnegie Hall (New York).
