Ready to start 2016 with a little funk and a whole lot of soul? Tower of Power and Average White Band are taking over Spirit Mountain Casino on Saturday, January 30th!
Tower of Power has been a staple in the R&B scene for nearly five decades. Hailing from Oakland, California, the group is known for their bold horns section and experimental style. In 1972, TOP gained national fame for “You're Still a Young Man." Since then, they’ve released 18 studio albums, worked with more than 60 musicians, and performed thousands of shows worldwide.
The band’s horn section is a force in and of itself. They’ve shared the stage with Grateful Dead, Elton John, Little Feat, Rod Stewart, Aerosmith, and more thanks to their powerful brass talents. Today, the band includes ten members who combine trumpets, guitar, sax, and more for an outstanding show.
Average White Band brings funk from across the Atlantic. This Scotland-based band defined the 1970s with their disco hits and continue to treat audiences to their timeless music today. Like TOP, Average White Band has been a perennial favorite amongst R&B fans for nearly half a century. Their first hit, “Pick Up the Pieces” sold more than a million copies, and their albums AWB and Cut the Cake stand out as some of the best funk records ever produced.
It isn’t every day that you have the opportunity to see one of these bands— much less both in the same night. This exciting collaboration marks a celebration of music that has made audiences get out of their seats for decades.
Join Spirit Mountain for an extra dose of soul, funk, and R&B with Tower of Power and Average White Band. Tickets start at $20 and go on sale on Tuesday, November 24th. Mark your calendars to ensure you get to experience this dynamic double act.
